Nov. 21st, 2004 01:32 pmWell I FINALLY have my computer back which is a good thing, and after much panicking have discovered that I haven't actually lost anywhere near as much as I thought I had...I'll explain that one a little better, the computer went a little crazy after we upgraded it and went into constant crash mode, we gave it back to Lev to sort out and install XPpro and somehow it swallowed everything that wasn't in the shared folder....yep that meant all of my poetry, fic, rpg stuff, the works! Well he hit it with a recovery program that got some stuff back although nowhere near all of it then the real bastard kicked in when I switched on this morning to find out just how much I'd lost...
Yes I'd got most of Goddess in Chains, yes I'd got some of the character backgrounds that I hadn't backed up online what I didn't have was any of Sleeping Dragons...now anyone who knows me personally or from the NW lists might know what that means, put simply it's a NightWorld fan-fic that I've been working on on and off for the last 4 years...yeah I was very much not a happy bunny! Now a little while ago we did a system restore to get rid of some bugs that the puter had picked up...I am lucky and have a wonderful Muppett who remembered that we made a back-up CD at the same time just in case we lost anything important in the process - it not only had sleeping dragons on it it also had most of my folders that I'd lost with letters and things saved in them, pictures that hadn't been recovered, music that I no longer have to borrow the CD's for and most of my Geyamir stuff so I no longer have to retype all 30+ pages of it! *Happy dance* This CD is now getting labeled and kept "somewhere safe" although hopefully not that safe as I'd like to be able to findit if this ever happens again! Anything I don't have now I can either get from people or rewrite, I rewrite lots anyway so it shouldn't make to much of a difference!
It does feel good just to have my puter back again, it's kinda worrying that I feel so lost without it but when you have friends that don't live within an hours bus/train ride, no car and a limited budget you need some means of communication! Add to that I've had nothing to work on because I don't keep enough hard copies of my work and various clubls that I'm babysitting/have just joined have been neglected - I spend far too much time on here!
Anyway, I need to stop ranting on here and go get a shower, no doubt I'll be back later and maybe nearly losing so much will prompt me to actually work on it some more, not GiC, I've run myself into a complete brick wall with that unless I make it end of part and jump ahead aways, but Sleeping Dragons definitly, I know what's going to happen, I just need to get the plot there!

A little girl walks into a pet shop and asks in the sweetest little lisp: "Excuthe me, mithter, do you keep wittle wabbits?"
So the shopkeeper gets down on his knees, so that he's on her level, and asks:
"Do you want a wittle white wabby or a soft and fuwwy bwack wabby or maybe one like that cute wittle bwown wabby over there?"
The little girl puts her hands on her knees and says:
"I don't fink my pyfon really giveths a thit."
*End giggles*
