Feb. 20th, 2005 04:08 pmWell that was an interesting phone call...
My parents just rang which of course got me worried because they have a very ill cat at the moment. Turns out that things are no worse than expected given that the vets have given her an upper limit of two weeks.
What they DID want to tell me was the latest result of my Dad's family tree obsession...It turns out that on my paternal grandmother's side my great great great great grandmother was related to William Makepeace Thackeray, we haven't found out the exact relationship yet, just that she was a family member. Ok maybe not royalty but at least it's an artistic connection!
And I apparently need to shoot a Muppett....an english student who's never heard of Thackery...how the hell does that work?!
That line of the family are mainly landowners and farmers from around Warfedale, other famous types from around there, not relations but neighbours; a certain family by the name of Fawkes...yep, Guy's relatives. Sir Thomas Fairfax, leader of Cromwell's New Model Army, who cut down the Royalist colours at Naseby...We don't know yet if the Claphams (that would be my lot) were on his side or not but I'd far rather have links to the Royalist side...Although that might be my general RP opinion of pretty things are better!
