Well...you know that stereotypical thing of cats and trees....it happens! At least we didn't wind up having to call the fire brigade or something equally embarassing, the thought that it could have been Scott that turned up on that one makes it even more of a relief that we are capable of climbing trees (as is Laura's housemate who ended up doing the actual climbing).

It's warm, therefore we have the door open so the cats can wonder in and out and generally get some outside time. I get cool and decide that shutting the door would be a good thing, we check for kittens and there's a Salem missing...
We search the flat...
Then we search the block...
Then we search the building!

No Salem...
So we decide to go check the house that took him in last time he went missing.

On the way out I scan the bushes and things thinking that he may just have found a hidey hole. I look up and there's a black thing in one of the trees...I look again and it flies off...then I notice that there's a bigger black thing that's still in the tree...I walk over and see this pathetic little face looking down at me and mewing. He seemed to have gotten reasonably comfortable up there but he just couldn't get down and must have been getting cold/hungry/frightened.

The rescue operation started with me getting dispatched to get the big rucksack, by the time I got back we had Laura watching and one of her mates up the tree with the cat. Then came the fun part of getting the cat in the bag...I think once he realised it was for his own good he was ok, the view I got of his tail as it disappeared though suggested he was anything but happy, major bottle brush effect!

Once we got him down he was fine with the bag, until he realised he was inside again, then we couldn't move fast enough for him! He got carried up to our floor then let down, I don't think I've ever seen him move so fast! Although he nearly brained himself on the door because I'd shut it while we were out looking for him. Ah well, the important part is that he's back, 'Rina hasn't left him alone for more than two minutes, he's been sniffed, washed and nuzzled from one end to the other...If the tree didn't cost him one of his nine I think the attention might do!

I was a little down at missing swimming again, well, worried that it would get back to the stage where I couldn't be bothered...now I'm beginning to think it was a good thing! If I'd gone I would have been there now and Muppett very rarely thinks to look anywhere other than down or ahead for things, the poor kitten might have been up there a couple more hours, or tried to jump down and hurt himself badly!

Not sure why exactly he thought trees were a good idea, possibly he decided he was hungry and felt like reminding us that he is a mighty hunter by bringing home a bird...Then again a lot of people walk their dogs out there as well..I think (hope) he's learned his lesson though, he'd only just decided that outside wasn't so scary after his last little adventure.
