Why is it that costume shopping for the sole purpose of costume shopping is utterly futile? I can walk around town when I have no money and no intention of buying stuff and I'll see the most perfect *insert item of clothing*, or alternatively I do have money and after much deliberation buy said piece of clothing. The problem is that no matter what it is that I've bought will invariably be wrong for the character/weather/themes at the next event. And then of course I decide that I should find something new to go with the rest of my costume...BIG mistake! It could be that I always insist on leaving things to the last minute (yes you do remember a very similar rant about a month ago!) or it could just be that the universe sucks! Even if I shop for things weeks in advance you can guarantee that I won't find what I'm looking for, half the time I won't even find anything close or anything that would substitue for what I'm looking for! Either that or I'll have the bright idea of looking around Debenhams where there's a half price sale on everything - except their evening wear section which is the only place I'm going to find corsets since they're not "fashionable" at the moment!

And that's the problem isn't it? If something isn't in fashion the only place you're going to find it is in charity shops (which are failing me totally at the moment) or in gothy shops (overly expensive and set of kit/goth sensors from a mile away).

"But wait" I hear you cry, "you solved that corset dilemma last event"...Well yes...ish....The problem there is that the corset, while being very pretty and appropriate and stuff, is absolutely knackered! The boning has given up the ghost and is moulded very nicely in the shape of my...assets. This is great, except for when it falls down constantly and not only means that I can't move above a walk without being incredibly uncomfortable but also that I spend half my time in danger of flashing people...not good. Rob offered to re-bone it for me, then discovered that because of the crazy way the thing is made, he would have to put extra boning in rather than take the old stuff out first. Ok, I could live with that but he didn't have the time between getting the damn thing and the event (Ok my fault again but if he'd hung around for more than a couple of seconds after we got back from the boat I could have run up and got it then.)

So I'm stuck with trying to iron the bloody thing to see if I can get the boning back into some semblance of straightness. I also need to go through the craziness of my wardrobe to see if a) there is any emergency costume and b) if I can find the pretty green skirt I want for the masquerade ball....Possibly even the pretty purple skirt but I din't knowif that came with us or got lost when we moved out of Lavender Road. I'm still really pissed about the amount of stuff I lost in that house!

Anyway, I should stop rambling and actually go do something about getting packed and ready, lots to do today. Why don't I feel more excited and Maelfrothy?
